A new life sciences and engineering center offers a multi-disciplined home of research facilities to open the door to new collaboration and learning opportunities. It features a two-story atrium and presentation space along with a new exterior plaza and lounge area for students to study and relax.
NJIT is also celebrating the opening of Makerspace, a training-focused, rapid prototyping facility. Covering a 10,000 square foot area, it houses various pieces of equipment from 3D printers to industrial equipment such as precision measurement and laser cutting machines. It is aimed at enticing manufacturers to the campus by offering them the tools to build and test innovative prototypes of new products.

NJIT provides an ideal blend of liberal and technical education, aiming to venture beyond the typical study areas such as engineering, architecture and science. This enables interdisciplinary learning at the intersections of disciplines. Close to 11,500 students are enrolled at NJIT over a range of degree programs and there is constant development of new educational opportunities to meet changing student demands. NJIT offers six schools and colleges at which international students can enrol:
The college provides quality engineering education and offers a range of subjects over a wide selection of areas. These include choices such as biomedical engineering, transport, and pharmaceutical engineering.
Undergraduate and master’s programs, as well as teacher education programs, offered across six major academic departments, that includes biological sciences, humanities and physics to name a few.

Students have the opportunity to pursue various architectural and design related programs, including industrial design and urban systems. The college encourages an interdisciplinary approach that facilitates the development if innovative ideas.
NJIT has a range of entry requirements for international students, who are considered on the basis of their entire academic record with a particular focus on math, science and English grades.
Highest scores obtained on the SAT or ACT are considered by NJIT, using the ‘math + critical reading’ composite, with an expected average of 1190 on the SAT. Those with scores below 1100 are advised to retake in a bid to raise their mark.
For international students who are not from a native-speaking English country, it is important to prove proficiency via a TOEFL test, with a minimum score of either 79 (internet-based test), 213 (computer-based test) or 550 (paper-based test). A minimum score of 6.0 on the IELTS score will also allow consideration for admission, and non-native speakers will also be required to take a placement test in English when they arrive on campus.
For international students, finance can be a major concern, and as a result NJIT facilitates the grant of loans and scholarships to lessen their financial burden. Much of the financial aid provided to international students comes via scholarships or private loans.
Private agencies and lending institutions such as banks offer private loans, rather than them coming via the university or federal government, and any international student with an eligible U.S. citizen or permanent resident co-signer is able to apply.
However, NJIT does offer scholarship awards to lessen the need for further financial assistance. These include the International Presidential Scholarship, an award minus the out-of-state surcharge, which students must apply for with admission to be considered. There is also the Albert Dorman Honors College Scholarship. This is specifically for those who have gained admission to the Albert Dorman Honours College who may qualify for additional financial assistance.
NJIT plays an active role in the job hunt for graduates, backed by an alumni network filled with success stories that remains well-connected to the institution. Ranked as the best university in the United States for upward mobility by Forbes, NJIT helps students progress to great heights with their NJIT degree behind them.
The university works hard to develop future leaders in their fields, and the active involvement of a career development service in connecting with employers gives outstanding opportunities to students. As a result, the outcomes for graduates are endless and NJIT graduates have gone on to gain employment at countless blue-chip companies straight after finishing their studies. Amongst the companies to employ NJIT graduates are Amazon, Apple, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, Forbes, Google, Goldman Sachs, IBM, Nokia, Morgan Stanley and many more.
