    About the accommodation

The University of Virginia requires all incoming first year undergraduate students to live on-grounds. Alderman Road Residence area consists of 11 houses, accommodating over 1300 residents. Eight of the buildings are suite-style, with five double (some triple) bedrooms, totaling 9-11 residents per suite. Each suite shares a spacious common living area and a bathroom. The suite area provides a location for study that doesn't disturb a sleeping roommate, or a place to hang out with friends. The suite opens out to a balcony. The other three buildings have hallway-style double rooms. The University also offers a number of different residence styles and locations for upper class students. Apartments, single bedrooms in a suite arrangement, residential colleges, and language houses provide a wide variety of experiences for student living. Students in their final undergraduate year may also apply to live on the historic lawn at the heart of Jefferson's original university. It also reserves housing for graduate students in two areas. Copeley III is located across from the Law School in North Grounds, and offers apartment living with double-occupancy bedrooms. The historic range area and Cracker box are located in the center of Grounds. It has two apartment communities available for students with families. Copeley Hill and University gardens both offer several apartment options, and are designed to provide quality economical housing in an atmosphere of community interaction.
