What will I learn?

An Honours in Fine Arts aims to develop critical and creative skills and provides an opportunity for students to undertake dedicated advanced research. The framework of the honours specialisation refines the praxis between critical thinking and creative application within the major. The Fine Arts honours directs undergraduate experimentation into a research-based framework of dedicated learning-it aims to prepare a student for advanced self-directed investigation in postgraduate study and entrepreneurial art practice. The focus upon knowledgeable art investigation is given opportunity for greater debate and sophistication in the honours specialisation and privileges independent research within its structure. Individually supervised research will be informed by seminar-based study that integrate an understanding of current trends and practices, historical ideas and theoretical paradigms relevant to contemporary art practice and thinking. Self-directed research will form more individualised approaches to art practice, develop innovative characteristics and communicate fresh understandings about art.
