The Graduate Program in Maritime Archaeology at Flinders is the top named degree of its kind in Australia. Participate on archaeological projects interstate and overseas and obtain field experience through formal training in our field schools and practical topics. In the Masters Program, youll graduate with theoretical and practical training with an option to become a qualified Scientific Diver enabling you to participate on many scientific and archaeological projects around the world.Careers in maritime archaeology are steadily growing, both in Australia and internationally. The Flinders program has drawn students from many countries (Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, UK, USA, Canada, South Africa, Italy and the Netherlands) and graduates now work professionally for underwater cultural heritage management agencies, museums and consultancy companies, as well as studying and teaching at universities all over the world.

Entry requirements

For international students

Advanced Entry (1.5 years) applicants who have completed one of the following may be eligible to complete the 54 unit program provided they have an approved:

Honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in Archaeology (or a closely related discipline) from an approved tertiary institution
Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma (or an equivalent qualification) in Archaeology (or a closely related discipline) from an approved tertiary institution
Bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification) in Archaeology.

English language requirements

IELTS (Academic): 6.0 Overall with 6.0 Speaking, 6.0 Writing; TOEFL iBT: 72 Total score with 18 Speaking, 21 Writing; Pearson PTE Academic: 50 Overall with 50 Speaking, 50 Writing; Cambridge C1 Advanced: 169 Overall with 169 Speaking, 169 Writing; Occupational English Test (OET): 300 Speaking, 300 Writing, 300 Reading, 300 Listening; Duolingo (Up to and including Semester 2, 2024): Overall 95-100
