What will I learn?

You gain the skills and knowledge required to provide person-centred health care under the direction of a health professional.You explore the way different health issues and practices impact the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities and learn how to care for people with multiple conditions or disabilities. You also learn how to safely move patients and how to respond to vulnerability and abuse.New Zealands aging population means there is increasing demand for people with your skills. With this qualification you will be able to access a higher level of remuneration based on the funding changes applicable to trained health assistant workers.You could also use this course as a stepping stone towards applying for higher level nursing courses or other degrees.

For international students

For courses at levels 1-3, domestic and international students will be required to: Provide evidence of ability to complete academic requirements.

Information Session/Interview: Youll be invited to an information meeting prior to Toi Ohomai offering you a place. This is your opportunity to find out more about the course content and to make sure you're on the most appropriate course for your career aspirations and current level of experience.

English Language requirements:

Level 3 certificate IELTS General or Academic score of 5 with no band score lower than 5 or completed New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 3 with an endorsement of either General, Workplace or Academic, or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined by NZQA.
