What will I learn?

As a Diagnostic Radiographer, you will be trained to use the latest imaging technology to provide essential healthcare services to millions of people. This dynamic Allied Health Profession plays a crucial role in responding to advancements in technology and evolving healthcare needs. Diagnostic Radiographers support patients throughout the screening, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of illnesses and injuries. With the increasing demand for imaging services, qualified radiographers are highly sought after. In the UK, Diagnostic Radiographers are regulated by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). Upon successful completion of this course, you will be eligible to apply for HCPC registration and begin your career as a Diagnostic Radiographer. **Why Study Diagnostic Radiography BSc(Hons) at University of Huddersfield?** At Huddersfield, you will be supported by a team of experienced radiographers and healthcare professionals based at our innovative National Health Innovation Campus. In Dec 2025, our state-of-the-art Emily Siddon Building will open on the site of the National Health Innovation Campus where you’ll benefit from cutting-edge imaging and simulator suites, allowing you to develop the technical expertise needed to operate diagnostic systems safely and effectively. Throughout your studies, you will also enhance your communication, patient care, and teamwork skills through regular interaction with service users, carers, healthcare professionals, and fellow health students. Our strong partnerships with both NHS and private healthcare providers, including a co-located community diagnostic centre, offer excellent placement opportunities, ensuring you gain valuable hands-on experience to reinforce your learning. **Professional Bodies** This course if awaiting approval from the Health and Care Professions Council and accreditation from the Society and College of Radiographers. **Why Huddersfield?** Huddersfield’s vibrant and friendly campus is a great place from which to study, while the town itself offers lots to see and do, with good transport links in and around the area. **Not quite ready to start Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy BSc(Hons)?** Successful completion of our Health Foundation Pathway will equip you with the foundation knowledge to study as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
