What will I learn?

By majoring in Computing and Machine Learning at St. John's, you build the technological proficiency necessary to meet the challenges of the 21st century. St. John’s University is committed to preparing students interested in computing and machine learning with the technological proficiency to meet the challenges of the 21st century. By majoring in Computing and Machine Learning, you develop the foundational knowledge and skills in the areas of computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, programming, and applied mathematics, establishing a broad knowledge base that will allow you to pursue careers in these specialized areas. You will be able to apply Machine Learning algorithms to solve real world problems. At St. John’s, you are guided and mentored by internationally recognized scholar-teacher faculty across the Math and Computer Science Department. You will have many opportunities to work with professors on cutting edge undergraduate research projects. You will also participate in research and seminars offered by the Machine Learning Institute. The Institute focuses on engaging students and faculty in exploring current topics in Machine Learning. As a Computing and Machine Learning major, you may be eligible to pursue a pathway to the M.A. in Applied and Computational Mathematics.

Entry requirements

For international students

Complete and submit an online application; Include a statement of activity if you have a gap in your education of more than three months between your graduation date and date of application submission; An essay and recommendation letters are strongly encouraged, but not required, for all programs except for Pharmacy, which requires both; Official academic records and/or official certificates/results from the Ministry of Education or secondary school in original language with official English translation; Official examination results (if taken) from the examining board (i.e., International Baccalaureate, General Certificate of Education, Caribbean Examinations Council, West African Examinations Council). Students who are home-schooled outside of the US need to submit a NACES member course-by-course evaluation.
