The Bachelor of Science in Data Science is offered through the College of Basic and Applied Sciences at MTSU. Data Science is an interdisciplinary field that covers the use of data to make decisions, gain insight, or develop knowledge. Data scientists combine skills from computer science, statistics, and business analytics.Students will start from a business understanding of the question at hand, using it to inform and understand the data available, then use skills in the preparation and display of data and in the modeling of data to evaluate the issue at hand. Finally, they will deploy the model they created to ensure that it is widely usable.

Entry requirements
For international students
Students must have official high school or university transcripts and it must be mailed directly from your high school or university to MTSU. For guaranteed admission, applicants must have completed the recommended college preparatory courses and must present one of the following: GPA 3.0 OR.Minimum composite ACT score of 22 OR minimum SAT total score of 1100 (Evidence Based Reading, Writing and Math).If you do not meet either of the above requirements you will need: Minimum 2.7 GPA plus ACT score of 19 OR SAT score of 990 (Evidence-Based Reading or Writing and Math).
