What will I learn?

The software engineering major provides graduates with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to develop large, complex computer software systems. The program focuses on the methodologies, techniques and tools needed to develop complex software in a multidisciplinary environment. Topics of study go beyond traditional computer science and include software design, software maintenance, and formal methods for software development. Throughout the program, students are expected to learn in a team environment and thus gain skills in effective communication. In addition to interest in analytical skills, problem solving, and an aptitude for working with technology, students are expected to develop an appreciation for teamwork. Learn the methodologies, techniques, and tools to develop large, complex computer software systems in a multidisciplinary environment. You’ll also develop expertise in software design, maintenance, and development. And by working in a team environment, you’ll gain communication and leadership skills to help advance your career. Graduates are employed as software engineers, software developers, programmers, systems analysts, and database analysts. Computer software engineers remains one of the fastest-growing occupations and many opportunities will exist for graduates with a least a bachelor's degree in the field. Software engineering also remains among some of the top career choices based on salaries and job satisfaction.

Entry requirements

For international students

Basic requirements for admission as an international student to a bachelor's degree program include the following: Completion of formal secondary education in a pre-university curriculum. Completion must include the awarding of a diploma or the issuance of a leaving certificate or matriculation certificate generally recognized as the educational qualification necessary for admission to higher studies. English language ability at a level sufficient to undertake a full course of study. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Testing (ACT) scores (if applicable). International students are not required to provide an ACT or SAT score, but they may use the ACT or SAT to satisfy English language proficiency requirements. Copy of Passport or National ID card. All international applicants and international students who are visa holders in the US must also provide a copy of their current visa or immigration status.
