What will I learn?

The Master of Science program in Childhood Education (Career Change) advances the knowledge and experience of graduates in teaching elementary education. The program includes a range of relevant pedagogical methods for teaching and learning and strategies for devising, implementing and assessing learning experiences for all learners. The Department of Curriculum and Instruction inspires learners through collaborative, authentic, responsive, and experiential practices. We are committed to supporting our students as global educators, leaders, and researchers who address the needs of communities within and beyond the classroom. This graduate program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences to become competent, caring, and effective elementary (Grades 1-6) teachers prepared to design and enact instruction and assessment that is differentiated and culturally responsive.

Entry requirements

For international students

To be considered for a graduate program within The School of Education, you must have a bachelors degree from an accredited institution or the international equivalent prior to enrollment. In addition, some programs require a masters degree and/or Proof of NYS Certification.Official Transcripts from ALL colleges and universities attended.Copy of Certification (If you presently possess New York State Initial or Professional Teaching Certification)Resume and letters of recommendation requirements vary by program.Personal Statement of Goals (300-350 Words) *Except for Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, which requires two essays and the Ed.D. in Administration and Supervision, which has specific prompts. Please see below for more information on those two essay requirements.
