What will I learn?

Composition students enjoy the opportunity of having their works performed by our major ensembles including the University Orchestra Wind Ensemble University Singers and Contemporary Chamber Players. Our Composition division traditionally hosts two national international guest composers each year. The DMA degree is structured to allow maximum flexibility in designing a program around each student’s background and needs. Although the distribution of hours is firm program requirements are to be regarded as general rather than fixed. The student’s preparation experience and stated goals are carefully evaluated before an individually selected course of study is prescribed.

Entry requirements

For international students

A Baccalaureate or Masters Degree The applicant must provide an unofficial transcript showing that a U.S. bachelors degree or its equivalent was awarded by an accredited college or university or is expected to be awarded within one term. If accepted to the University of Memphis the student must provide an official transcript by the end of their first semester. In addition transcripts from any other college or university attended may be requested. Only transcripts received directly from an issuing institution are considered official. Personal copies are not acceptable as official documents. If you are a UofM undergraduate student applying to Graduate School at UofM you do not need to request that an official transcript be sent to Graduate Admissions. GPA 3.04.0 cumulative GPA. Departments may set higher standards.
