The department has a rich history of conducting research with a strong emphasis on addressing real-world problems. This is attributed mostly to our prime location (in Southeast Michigan, the epicenter of the U.S. automotive industry).

Entry requirements

For international students

Admission to this program is contingent upon admission to the Graduate School. In general, applicants are required to have a Graduate degree in engineering or a related discipline (e.g., operations research, MBA, information systems, or mathematics) with a 3.5 GPA or higher. Students with an undergraduate degree in one of these areas and a grade point average of 3.5 or above may apply for direct admission to the Ph.D. program
