Marshall Scholars represent the strong and enduring partnership between the United Kingdom and the United States, selected for their outstanding academic achievements, leadership qualities, and potential to serve as ambassadors for this transatlantic relationship.

About this award

Funded primarily by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and administered by the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission, the Marshall Scholarships support postgraduate study in the UK.

Through a partnership between the University of Hull and the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission, one scholarship is available for a Marshall Scholar pursuing a graduate degree at Hull. This award provides comprehensive support, including coverage of tuition fees, living expenses, and travel.

Eligibility

The Marshall Scholar must have been selected by the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission Committees to study at the University of Hull.

The Marshall Scholar must be planning to study a one-year taught Masters or one-year Masters by research programme (MRes) in any subject offered at the University of Hull.

The Marshall Scholar must be accepted at the University of Hull through the usual admissions process.

The selection criteria are divided into three equally weighted categories:

  • Academic Merit
  • Leadership Potential
  • Ambassadorial Potential

Students must first become a Marshall Scholar, information on the application and selection process can be found on the Marshall Scholarships website.

In the US the selection process is managed by the regional Consulates General in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco, and in Washington DC by the British Embassy.
