The University of Exeter continuously invests in building new facilities, services and spaces for students and staff - ensuring that it remains a contemporary, modern university for the students of tomorrow.
One of the foremost developments is the creation of an immersive ecosystem of makerspaces, dedicated to enhancing entrepreneurship and digital innovation in engineering. Students will be able to use cutting-edge technologies and collaborative spaces develop themselves in areas like design thinking, gamification, robotic and digital simulation, 3D printing and prototyping.
Recent makerspaces include the Creative Quadrant, located at the university’s Streatham Campus Business School, as well as an Engineering and Digital Makerspace on the same campus. Connecting these spaces through established facilities, such as the innovative Digital Humanities Lab, unlocks new teaching and research methods that push well beyond the traditional lecture and seminar approach.
The new Centre for Resilience Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW) is another recent Streatham campus development. At the university’s Cornwall Campus in Penryn, work will soon be starting on a new facility designed to expand its Sustainable Futures research and teaching, an area of expertise within the university.
