Top Arts Courses to Study in Australia in 2018, for Indian Students

As examinations are on the verge of ending, many students are getting ready with their plans of pursuing undergraduate studies. While some students are hoping to go overseas and pursue an international undergraduate degree, others have already finalised their destination of higher education – it has to be Australia.

So students who are planning to step out of their country and move to Australia have made the right decision. But which arts courses should they choose for undergraduate studies in Australia?

Undergraduate courses that an arts student can pursue in Australia in 2018 are as follows:

Most Bachelor of Arts or BA courses have a duration of 3 years, in most institutes abroad. There are several BA specialisation courses that are available, too.

The Australian universities where you can apply for your undergraduate arts courses are as follows:

The primary intake in most Australian institutes for undergraduate courses is in February and July. But there are multiple intakes available in September and November. The major academic requirement is IELTS band of no less than 6.0 overall, though some universities accept IELTS band 5.5.

La Trobe University

At La Trobe University, you can choose from a diverse list of arts courses, including Bachelors in Human Geography, History or English. These are full-time 3-year courses, and cost approximately 14 Lakhs per year.

University of Adelaide

Students can choose from courses like History, International Business, International Development, Marketing, Management and Politics and International Studies at the University of Adelaide.

You can also choose from double undergraduate degrees like – Bachelor of Arts with Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts with Bachelor of Economics.

Bachelor of Arts with Science enables you to get best of both worlds – arts and science. Potential career paths that students can choose after completing this double degree are Ecologist, Archaeologist, Natural Resource Planner, Psychologist and Statistician.

Bachelor of Arts with Economics is a course designed to make students aware of the economy. Potential career paths chosen by graduates of this course include – Portfolio Manager, Arts Administrator, Human Resource Manager, Information Analyst, Economist, Business Consultant, Financial Adviser, Archaeologist, Ministerial Adviser and Advertising Officer.

Both double degrees last for 4 years and cost around 17 Lakhs per year, for international students.

There are a few more undergraduate combined degrees that international students can explore – including – Bachelor of Engineering (civil and environmental) and Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) and Bachelor of Arts and  Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronic) and Bachelor of Arts.

In each course, international students equip themselves with the ideas and teachings of two different streams. Doing so, they learn the engineering course of their choice while simultaneously taking up an arts major. These combined courses usually last for 5 years.

University of Wollongong

Undergraduate courses like International Relations, History, Sociology, Science and Technology Studies, Communication and Media, Economics and Finance and Creative Arts (Music and Theatre) are on offer for international students at the University of Wollongong.

The Australian National University

Arts courses with specialisation in Applied Economics, Digital Humanities, Development Studies, Environmental Studies, Mathematics and Politics and International Relations are on offer for international students at the Australian National University.

Western Sydney University

International students can choose from the following undergraduate courses at Western Sydney: Bachelor of Arts - Global Business, Bachelor of Arts - Heritage and Tourism, Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business (combined) and Bachelor of Law.

The combined degree of Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business comprises 6 majors in Arts. And the degree in business is meant to give students an impetus to boost their managerial skills.

Australian Catholic University

Undergraduate courses in Business Studies, Economics, Literature, Mathematics and Politics and International Relations are on offer for international students at the Australian Catholic University. Dual degree programmes are on offer, too, which mostly last for 4 years, e.g., Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Arts (Mathematics).

Monash University

At Monash University, international students can choose from double degrees like Bachelor of Business and Arts or Bachelor of Commerce and Arts.

Fine Arts, English as an international language and Film and Screen studies are some of the other undergraduate courses that international students can study at Monash.
