The average cost of an international postgraduate degree at an Australian University is around AUD 15,000 – AUD 25,000 per year for a master’s course. At top universities such as Monash University, the fees could go up till even AUD 28,000. Most Indian students and their parents commonly depend on bank loans or personal resources to fund their degrees. Unfortunately very few even consider applying for university scholarships. To be eligible for such grants and awards you need to plan well ahead and ensure you maintain excellent academic performance throughout your undergraduate study. This way you can easily win scholarships and reduce the financial burden on both yourself and your parents.

If you are considering taking up a PG programme at an Australian university, its good to know what are the scholarships being offered at the various colleges:

Monash University

The University offers the Faculty of Information Technology International Merit Scholarships for outstanding Indian students. To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to have a place of offer from Monash for an on-campus postgraduate coursework degree. The award covers tution fees of $3000 or $5000 in value. Students applying directly to the University for entry to a course of study will be automatically assessed.

The University presents the Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (EIPRS) program especially for international students undertaking a postgraduate research qualification at the university. The closing date for application is 31 August each year. The scholarships are available for a two year period for a master’s by research degree and a three year period for a doctorate by research degree. Apart from these, the University also offers a number of institutionally funded grants titled UWS International Postgraduate Research Scholarships.

Applicants for coursework awards are not eligible to apply, even where there is a research component in the degree. If you have applied for the EIPRS scholarship, you will be automatically considered for the these grants if your application for the EIPRS is unsuccessful.
