English language proficiency

GRE scores

To get into the top-ranked universities to study Mechanical engineering a score of 1370 to 1390 on the GRE is essential. The next tier of universities would require a score of 1340 to 1360 on the GRE.

Widener University offers an innovative MEng in Mechanical Engineering programme.  Students can pick eight courses and complete a thesis or skip the thesis and complete 11 courses to earn their degree.

The University of Bristol offers a highly respected MSc in Advanced Mechanical Engineering programme. This is a one-year programme and offers a detailed look into mechanical engineering. Additional modules in Robotics and Biomechanics are also offered.

Swansea University offers the MSc in Mechanical Engineering programme. There is an option to complete this programme by working on additional research as well.  Interesting modules in the programme include – Entrepreneurship for Engineers, Polymer Processing and Metallurgy.

The University of Sydney offers the Master of Mechanical Engineering programme. This is a full-time degree that runs for 18 months. Federation University Australia offers the Master of Engineering Technology in Mechanical Engineering programme. This is offered as a full-time two-year programme. Students will learn all aspects of design specification, development, research, evaluation, manufacture, installation, testing, operation, maintenance and management of machines and systems.

Kumar Bhattacharya was born in 1940 in Dhaka. He went on to study Mechanical Engineering at IIT-Kharagpur. Then he went to the UK to work in Lucas Industries as a graduate apprentice. He studied at the University of Birmingham and after securing a PhD went continued to teach there.
