An increasing number of Indian students seem to prefer Malaysia nowadays, thanks to the affordable cost of international education in the country. Yet another aspect that attracts Indian students is the twinning programmes which Malaysian universities offer, where you get to study a part of the course at a partnering university in another country such as UK, Australia or U.S.

Among the many subjects being favoured is Software engineering which is quite popular with international students heading to Malaysia for higher studies.

A Master’s in Software engineering typically equips you with the knowledge of software engineering theories and their application to produce high quality software.

The course is aimed at producing hands-on developers and enhances your expertise in systems software development and applied research. At the end of the course, students are able to apply relevant techniques and demonstrate critical and analytical thinking skills in problem solving.

The Advanced Informatics School at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia offers its master’s students industrial training at the local software industries.

You also have the option to first complete your bachelor’s degree in Malaysia and follow it up with a master’s degree. Limkokwing University offers a BSc degree in Software engineering with a multimedia track. This course trains students in programming skills with the use of multimedia tools and applications. The design element in the course helps students appreciate the importance of interactive design in computer programming. The undergraduate courses focus on the fundamentals like the principles in software engineering, and the capability to apply best practices in various scenarios.

There are other related undergraduate courses also that are offered, such as the BSc computer Science in Mobile Computing which are interesting options for you to pursue.

A minimum qualification expected from applicants to the master’s degree programme is a bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering.

Career opportunities for software engineering graduates are available in plenty. Graduates can work as software developers, project managers, system engineers, software quality engineers, software architects, project leaders, business analysts, academicians and researchers.
