Some Interesting Findings from the Survey:

  • The universities that top the QS World Rankings and the Shanghai Rankings also top the ‘Global Employability Rankings’. The usual stalwarts - the University of Oxford, Harvard University, University of Cambridge, Stanford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology head the list.
  • Students are attracted by the ‘big brand-names’ evidently they are the toughest institutions to get admitted into as well.
  • Affordable on-campus accommodation with a good meal-plan is a feature that international students consider important.
  • The assistance offered for international students starting from the orientation program to special English training classes and medical and counselling support are other key-factors.
  • Job-oriented courses and the employability quotient of the student based on the courses opted for play a major role in the determination of these rankings. Institutions offering dedicated career assistance for both local and international students score higher!
  • More institutions from Asia - specifically China, South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong are improving their infrastructure and teaching facilities to climb the global rankings steadily.

Team Hotcourses India's Advice:

  • Ensure that the institution that you apply for has a good international student support team in place.
  • Ensure that you have your accommodation fixed up before you join the course.
  • Check if there are scholarships available and apply for them well in advance.
  • Look at the options for part-time employment.
  • If your institution has a ‘career support team’ keep in touch with them and attend the mock-interviews and job-placement events organised by them.
  • Keep yourself updated with the latest developments in your field of study.
  • Network - Harness the power of the internet - join alumni networks, LinkedIn and other websites. You never know where an interesting job might get posted!

In spite of all the love for studying and research; the final aim of every student is to find a well-paying job to help repay any student loans that have been availed and fulfil one’s personal dreams. Opt for an institution and a course that lets you fulfil your dreams and helps you achieve a balance of financial security and personal accomplishment.
