Study in UK and Europe WITHOUT IELTS – yes, you heard it right!

Amidst the harrowing incidence of Brexit, international students are still planning to pursue their higher education in the UK and Europe.

There are plenty of institutions abroad which provide admissions WITHOUT IELTS certification. If you are willing to know about them, just read up more.

You need to check with some reputed overseas education consultancies before taking any decision since their years of experience in the international students market will definitely fetch you the correct degree and destination, even if you DO NOT have a good IELTS score – yes, that’s right! There are several universities in the UK and Europe which provide admission to students based on their English language proficiency and percentage of marks secured in English at a school level.

But remember – there is going to be a tough competition so you need to plan beforehand and gather enough information. Mostly the application deadline is from February till May across various universities in different countries.

Entry requirements

To apply for a degree abroad without IELTS, students need to have a minimum 70% and above in 12^th in English under CBSE or State Board. They should posses excellent verbal and written English language skills so that they can avoid taking up IELTS. Usually, students are interviewed over telephonic calls or through personal interviews which could be at your nearest test centre.

• The University of Bristol

One of the leading research-based universities, the University of Bristol accepts admission without IELTS. Please check the website for application details. The university has both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees on offer in fields like Advanced Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering & Accounting and Finance. Average course fee for international students is from £ 15,000.00 to 35,000.00.

• Birmingham City University

Located in the heart of the city – Birmingham, the University has both undergraduate and postgraduate courses on offer in areas like Accountancy & Business, Accountancy & Finance, Audit Management & Consultancy, Biomedical Engineering and Digital Broadcast Technology. Birmingham City University accepts applications without an IELTS score, and the course fee is minimum £ 12,000.00 for international students.

• Middlesex University

This is one university which waives off IELTS and has a number of programmes on offer in fields like Applied Statistics, Biochemistry, Banking & Finance with a foundation year, Business & Legal Translation and Business Informatics & Data Analytics. The minimum course fee is nearly £ 10,500.00 for international students.

• Sheffield Hallam University

One of UK’s premier institutions, Sheffield Hallam offers a number of degrees in fields like Animation & Digital Effects, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Accounting & Finance, Business Analytics, Applied Sport & Exercise Science and Biomedical Laboratory Sciences. The average course fee for international students is nearly £ 12,500.00.

• University of Warwick

 Established in 1965, University of Warwick is one of the leading public research institutes. The University waives off IELTS for students who cannot meet the entry requirements but offers a basic English language test called PEPS. Both undergraduate and postgraduate courses are on offer in fields like Business & Management, Engineering, Finance & Economics and Creative & Media Enterprises. Warwick Business School is one of the reputed institutes in the country. The University course fee is minimum £ 20, 180.00 for international students. Scholarships are available too.

• London Southbank University

London Southbank waives off IELTS if you have an International Baccalaureate Diploma or an Accredited UK Foundation Programme, with minimum 55% marks.  Scholarships are available to fund your studies. Average course fee ranges from £ 5,000.00 to 10,000.00 for international students.

• Northumbria University

Almost 10% of its students comprise international students from over 100 countries. Students at Northumbria learn to solve some real-world problems. The University waives off IELTS in following fields: Arts & Media Management, Computer & Digital Forensics, Creative Writing, Business & International Management, Applied Sport Science with Coaching, Architectural Engineering and Automotive Engineering. Minimum course fee on average for international students is £ 11,500.00. Scholarships for international students are available too.

• University of Central Lancashire

UCLan is one of the reputed institutes in the UK, based out of Preston. It has international scholarships available, providing up to £ 1,000 GBP per year. The University of Central Lancashire is home to over 9% international students and offers numerous degrees in fields like Engineering, Business & Management, Social studies & Media and Travel & Hospitality. Students willing to study at UCLan without IELTS can apply.

• Audencia Nantes School of Management

Accredited by the Association of MBAs, Audencia Nantes School is a leading school of Management in France. Students can apply to several programmes, without an IELTS certification.

• RIGA Technical University

Based out of Latvia, well known for its picturesque locations, RIGA has cutting-edge facilities to offer. It provides quality education at affordable tuition fees. The University waives off IELTS if students have a clear knowledge in English language and have studied the subject as a first language in high school. Admissions are open to both 12^th class and undergraduate students.

• University of Geneva

University of Geneva is one of the leading public research universities in Switzerland. It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in fields like Social Sciences, Law, Economics & Management, Theology and Psychology & Educational Sciences. IELTS is not mandatory when applying to the University.

• University of Basel

One of the renowned research-based universities, University of Basel has a wide range of programmes on offer in different fields, such as Law & Politics; Computer Science; Society, Culture & Environment; Business & Management and Theology & Religion.

Note:

There are a few universities in New Zealand where studying without IELTS is possible. All you need to do is to produce a few proofs (10^th and 12^th certificates), while applying to those universities, which state that your medium of study in your country has been in English.

How to apply?

That sounds like a difficult question. Well, you just need to be prepared with the following essential documents, if you wish to apply to the above listed universities:

• Marksheets of your school indicating your medium of instruction. Majority of universities ask for 10^th and 12^th marksheets that reflect English as your first language of instruction.
• Passport copy
• SOP/LOR –possibly two.
