study in Canada from Bangladesh

One of the key steps that every Bangladeshi student needs to follow to study in Canada is – apply for a study permit. Canadian study permit is the enroute to your Canadian residency permit. Once you get a chance to study in the country, you will get to experience a number of opportunities, and meet a number of people.

So, how to go about studying in Canada...

Step 1: Shortlist and apply

You will have to wait for your SSC or HSC scores, and once you receive your scores, start shortlisting universities that are of your interest. You must select up to 3 or 4 institutes. Ideally, the application process should start one year in advance. So either you can wait for your academic results or start applying early on.

Before you begin shortlisting and applying at institutes, it is advisable that you take up any standardised tests. Normally, you need to take up IELTS when applying at Canadian institutes, but some institutes might have different academic requirements in which case you will have to take other entrance tests.

Once you receive the offer letter from your chosen university or college, you will have to start applying for your study visa. At least 4–6 months before your programme starts, you will have to file applications for your Canada study permit.

Step 2: Apply for visa

There are two ways to apply for Canadian study visas from Bangladesh, either online or offline. If you want to apply offline, you will have to visit the application centre or your nearest embassy. You can also opt for the online method of filing visa applications.

You’ll be glad to hear that Hotcourses has its own visa advisors who can guide you with preparing for mock visa interviews and applying for study visas, in a best possible way from your comfort zone.

The visa fee could be paid either online or through bank transfer or at your nearest visa centre. In addition, you will have to submit your biometrics to the centre, if you apply through them.

However, you will have to attend the visa interview in-person and also take a medical exam in New Delhi.

How long is my study visa valid in Canada? Canadian study visa is valid till 3 months after your course completion. If you want to extend your visa after 3 months, you will have to apply for a different visa.

*Health insurance is mandatory for students when applying for visas, but Bangladeshi students need not take any health insurance when applying for Canadian study permit.
