Mechanical Engineering in Canada

Mechanical Engineering is one of the popular and evergreen branches in engineering. A mechanical engineer’s task involves designing, developing and testing mechanical devices and sensors. They should analyse the problems with various devices and tools, design or redesign prototypes of the devices and tools, analyse the test results and monitor the manufacturing process end to end. Several Canadian universities offer masters in Mechanical Engineering, as well as bachelors in Mechanical Engineering.

Sub-fields of Mechanical Engineering which are equally popular include Thermodynamics, Mechatronics and Mechanics.

What kind of devices do mechanical engineers deal with?

They deal with power-generating machines such as gas turbines, power-using machines such as refrigeration and air-conditioning systems and with sensors, controllers and machinery. Also they use their analytical and operational skills in devices like any medical equipment, power plants, etc. They basically touch every aspect of science and technology.

Some of the popular career options for a mechanical engineer are in fields like Aerospace, Automotive, Computers, Electronics, Environment, Biotechnology, Consumer products, Nano-technology and Robotics.

Work environment of a mechanical engineer allows him/her to deal with a lot of challenges. Sometimes they work round the clock to meet the industry expectations.
