Miami has the smallest land area of any major US city and doesn’t have any hills, so if you want to get around on foot or bicycle, it’s definitely possible. But of course there will always be times when you need to use public transport. And you’ll be pleased to hear that in Miami, this is a totally affordable option.
Public transportation in Miami consists of the Metromover (an elevated rail system), the Metrorail (a commuter rail service), buses and trolleys.
The Metromover is only available downtown but it is a fantastic option for getting around, since it’s free and runs regularly. For Metrorail and buses, you can purchase tickets when you travel or buy an EASY Card travelcard, which gives you fare discounts and can be topped up online.
